Financial Aid & Funding Options

This page explains the types of outside financial assistance and funding that may help an AZ SkillCare student pay for training.

Understanding Your Options Before You Enroll

Paying for training can involve more than one source. Some students pay directly, some use an approved payment arrangement, and others receive help from an employer, workforce organization, community program, scholarship, or third-party financing provider.

It is separate from Tuition & Fees, which explains what AZ SkillCare programs cost, and Payment Options, which explains how payments can be made to AZ SkillCare.

Availability is not the same as eligibility. An outside organization may have its own application, credit, employment, residency, income, program, or other requirements. AZ SkillCare cannot approve a student on behalf of an independent funding provider.

1. What “Financial Aid” Means at AZ SkillCare

On the AZ SkillCare website, “Financial Aid” is used as a practical term for outside assistance that may help a student pay for eligible training. Depending on the student and the program, that assistance could come from an employer, workforce organization, community organization, scholarship, sponsor, or an independent financing or pay-over-time provider. AZ SkillCare does not use this page to represent that every program qualifies for federal student aid, state financial aid, veterans education benefits, private education loans, or any other outside funding program. Students should rely only on funding that has been confirmed by the organization providing it and, when payment will be made directly to AZ SkillCare, accepted by AZ SkillCare for that enrollment.

2. Common Sources of Financial Assistance

The source that makes sense for one student may not be available to another. The following are the main types of assistance a student may explore.
Funding Source How It May Help Who Determines Eligibility
Employer Sponsorship or Reimbursement An employer may pay all or part of approved training or reimburse an employee after completion The employer
Workforce or Community Funding A workforce, community, nonprofit, or similar organization may sponsor eligible training The funding organization
Scholarships or Sponsored Seats A scholarship, donor, partner, or community sponsor may cover part or all of an eligible student’s cost when an opportunity is available The scholarship or sponsoring organization
Third-Party Financing An independent financing provider may allow an approved student to finance eligible costs The financing provider
Pay-Over-Time Services A provider such as Afterpay, Klarna, Affirm, or another service may offer installment payments when that option is actually available at checkout The provider
Approved Third-Party Payment Another authorized organization or sponsor may pay AZ SkillCare directly on a student’s behalf The payer and AZ SkillCare
A provider or funding source appearing on this page does not guarantee that it will be available for every program, transaction, or student.

3. Employer Tuition Assistance and Sponsorship

Many healthcare employers and other businesses offer education benefits to employees. Depending on the employer, assistance may take the form of direct sponsorship, tuition reimbursement, professional-development funds, certification or training allowances, or reimbursement after successful course completion. Students should ask their employer whether job-related training is covered and what documentation is required. An employer may require advance approval, proof of enrollment, a receipt, proof of completion, a minimum grade or attendance standard, or continued employment for a specified period. When an employer will pay AZ SkillCare directly, the student should provide the required authorization before the payment deadline whenever possible. AZ SkillCare must be able to verify the payer, amount authorized, program covered, and payment terms before treating an employer commitment as an approved payment source. An employer’s reimbursement policy is an agreement between the employer and employee. AZ SkillCare cannot guarantee that an employer will reimburse a student even when the training is job-related.

4. Workforce and Community Funding

Students may also qualify for assistance through workforce-development organizations, community programs, nonprofit organizations, foundations, local initiatives, or other agencies that help eligible individuals obtain occupational or career training. These programs often have their own eligibility requirements. A funding organization may consider employment status, income, residency, career goals, program type, available funding, or other factors. Some organizations also require the school or specific program to meet their provider requirements before they will authorize payment. Students should receive written confirmation of funding before relying on an outside organization to pay tuition. AZ SkillCare does not guarantee approval by a workforce or community program and does not represent that every AZ SkillCare course is eligible for every outside funding source. If an organization requires school information, a tuition statement, program description, schedule, invoice, attendance verification, or completion documentation, students may contact AZ SkillCare for assistance with information AZ SkillCare is authorized to provide.

5. Third-Party Financing and Pay-Over-Time Services

AZ SkillCare may make independent third-party financing or pay-over-time options available for certain purchases or programs. These options can change as providers, checkout systems, and program offerings change. Services such as Afterpay, Klarna, Affirm, or another third-party provider should be considered available only when the option is actually displayed at checkout or separately confirmed by AZ SkillCare for the transaction. The third-party provider—not AZ SkillCare—determines approval, credit requirements, spending limits, payment schedule, interest or fees if applicable, account restrictions, and other financing terms. Applying for or using one of these services creates a separate relationship between the student and that provider. AZ SkillCare cannot guarantee approval, change a provider’s decision, extend a provider’s payment deadline, or modify the provider’s account terms. Students should review the provider’s complete terms before accepting financing or a pay-over-time arrangement.

6. Scholarships, Grants, and Sponsored Training Opportunities

AZ SkillCare may occasionally identify, develop, or participate in scholarship, grant-funded, donor-supported, employer-sponsored, or community-sponsored training opportunities. When an opportunity is available, AZ SkillCare will describe the applicable eligibility requirements, amount or benefit, application procedure, deadline, and any restrictions that are known to AZ SkillCare. Unless a scholarship or sponsored opportunity is specifically announced as currently available, students should not assume that AZ SkillCare has institutional scholarship funds available for general enrollment. Students are also encouraged to research legitimate outside scholarships, community awards, professional-association funding, employer programs, and other private sources that may permit funds to be used for the type of training they plan to complete. The sponsoring organization determines whether AZ SkillCare training qualifies.

7. Military and Veterans Education Benefits

Some schools and training providers are approved to accept specific military or veterans education benefits. Eligibility depends on the student, the benefit, the school, and the program. AZ SkillCare does not use this page to represent that a program is approved for GI Bill® benefits, VA education benefits, military tuition assistance, or another military education program unless that approval has been separately confirmed. Military-connected students should verify eligibility with the appropriate benefit administrator and AZ SkillCare before relying on those benefits for enrollment.

8. When an Outside Organization Will Pay AZ SkillCare

An outside funding approval is not complete simply because a student has applied for assistance. Before AZ SkillCare treats another organization as the payer, AZ SkillCare may need documentation showing the student’s name, approved program or service, amount authorized, billing instructions, payment deadline, contact information, and any conditions placed on payment. If outside funding covers only part of the amount due, the student remains responsible for arranging payment of the remaining balance by the applicable deadline. If a sponsor later reduces, denies, withdraws, or fails to make an authorized payment, responsibility for an unpaid balance may return to the student to the extent allowed by the applicable enrollment, payment, or sponsorship terms. Students should therefore keep copies of approval letters, authorizations, reimbursement policies, receipts, and communications relating to outside funding.

9. Financial Assistance Is Separate From Payment Options

Financial assistance and payment methods are related, but they are not the same thing. The Tuition & Fees page explains the amount AZ SkillCare charges for its programs and services. The Payment Options page explains how an amount due to AZ SkillCare can be paid, including approved payment arrangements and available payment methods. This Financial Aid & Funding Options page explains sources outside the student’s direct payment that may help cover some or all of the cost. For example, a student may receive employer sponsorship as the funding source, while the employer uses an approved third-party payment process to pay AZ SkillCare. Another student may use an independent pay-over-time provider displayed at checkout. A third student may use an AZ SkillCare-approved payment arrangement without receiving outside financial assistance at all.

10. Avoiding Funding and Scholarship Scams

Students should use care when applying for scholarships, financing, or other outside assistance. A legitimate-looking website or message does not automatically mean that an organization is affiliated with AZ SkillCare or that funding is guaranteed. Students should be cautious about organizations that guarantee an award, request unusual payment before releasing supposed scholarship funds, pressure the student to act immediately, request passwords or unnecessary sensitive information, or falsely claim to represent AZ SkillCare. AZ SkillCare will not ask a student to disclose a password for a bank account, financing account, government benefit account, or other outside service. When in doubt, contact the funding organization through independently verified contact information and confirm any claimed AZ SkillCare relationship directly with AZ SkillCare.

11. Start With the Cost, Then Confirm the Funding

Before committing to an outside financing or funding arrangement, students should first review the Tuition & Fees page to understand the current AZ SkillCare charge for the program or service they want.

Next, determine whether the proposed funding source actually covers that training. If the source is an employer, workforce organization, sponsor, scholarship, or community program, obtain written approval whenever possible. If the source is a financing or pay-over-time provider, review the provider’s complete terms and confirm that the option is available for the specific transaction.

Students should not delay required enrollment steps or assume a seat is reserved solely because an outside funding application is pending.
