FLORIDA MEDICATION ASSISTANCE

Med Tech

AZ SkillCare’s 6-Hour Medication Assistance Training provides focused instruction for assisted living facility staff and caregivers who may assist residents with self-administered medications.

Safe medication assistance begins with understanding the resident, the medication, and the limits of your role. The course emphasizes medication safety, documentation, resident rights, observation, reporting, proper assistance procedures, recognizing potential problems, and knowing when assistance must stop and appropriate licensed healthcare personnel should be contacted.

6-Hour Medication Assistance Training

Florida assisted living facility staff who assist residents with self-administered medications are subject to specific training requirements. This initial course addresses safe medication assistance and the responsibilities that come with that role.

Assisting a resident with self-administration is different from independently administering medication as a licensed healthcare professional. This course teaches assistance within the limits permitted by applicable Florida requirements and facility policy.

Medication assistance stays within the procedures and limits established by applicable law and facility policy. It is not independent medication administration.

Who Should Take This Course?

AZ SkillCare’s 6-Hour Medication Assistance Training is for adults whose work may include helping assisted living residents with self-administered medications.

This course is for:

  • CNAs and HHAs whose employment responsibilities include medication assistance

Florida Medication Assistance Requirements

Florida’s assisted-living training rules permit that annual two-hour update to be provided online. These requirements apply within the assisted-living framework. Assistance must remain within the procedures and limits established by applicable law and facility policy.
